You no help me now…I say fuck you Jobu
This past weekend, while partying in Boston, a debate broke out about great sports movies. (At least I think it did. Memories after Midnight are spotty at best.)
While we could pretty much all agree on what indeed are “great” sports movies, opinions varied on what was in fact “The Best”.
Here are MY 10 Favorite Sports Movies Of All Time:
10. WE ARE MARSHAL
9. THE ROOKIE (the baseballĀ one with Dennis Quaid, not the Charlie Sheen/Clint Eastwood cop movie and certainly not “Rookie of the Year” with that dork who went on to be UNFUNNY in American Pie.)
8. BULL DURHAM
7. THE NATURAL
6. RUDY
5. CINDERELLA MAN
4. MAJOR LEAGUE
3. FIELD OF DREAMS
2. HOOSIERS
AND, MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SPORTS MOVIE IS……
1. ROCKY

I love your picks 1-9…but We Are Marshall? Did you hit your head? There is no way that any movie w/ McConaughey is better that say….Chariots of Fire (if you count running as a sport), Million Dollar Baby, or Raging Bull.

I do consider running a sport and Raging Bull is supposedly great, but I’ve never seen it, or Chariots of Fire.
And While I think Million Dollar Baby is an overall great movie, to me it just doesn’t fit the mold of “sports movie”.
I think after a good sports movie you’re supposed to leave the theater with a good feeling. After MDB I kind of wanted to hang myself….
I dunno what it is but I’ve always had a soft spot for Marshal….I just can’t get enough of that Halfback option at the end of the movie to win the game….sniffle, sniffle.
